Behind this collection

This year index includes only the examples in this evidence pack with direct 2003 records: Apple’s third-generation iPod announcement and the Canon PowerShot A70 market entry. It is a curated starting point, not a complete list of portable electronics released that year.

Apple third-generation iPod

Apple’s newsroom announced the third-generation iPod on April 28, 2003. A September announcement introduced 20 GB and 40 GB iPod models. The source dates establish the announcements; they should not be generalized to every capacity, region or accessory in the lineup. (Apple, April 2003; Apple, September 2003)

Read the third-generation iPod profile for identification, charging and music-transfer evidence.

Canon PowerShot A70

Canon’s Camera Museum dates the PowerShot A70’s market entry to March 2003. That direct product record supports this year-index entry. (Canon Camera Museum: PowerShot A70)

A manual’s copyright date or a review’s publication date alone does not prove a product’s release year. Additional devices should be added only when their own announcement or market record is verified. This collection does not infer that all models in the directory date from 2003.
