YOUR PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

Things To Do Your Thing is an independent project run by a private collector of older electronics. This notice explains how personal information is handled when you visit the website or contact its operator.

1. Who is responsible?

This website is operated by a private individual who collects older electronics. The operator acts as the controller of personal information processed for this website and its reader correspondence. Privacy enquiries and requests can be sent to info@thingstodoyourthing.com.

2. Information processed and why

Website delivery and security. When your browser requests a page, network and hosting services may process your IP address, requested URL, request time, browser or device information, response status and security signals. This is used to deliver the site, diagnose faults and protect it against abuse. Where the GDPR applies, the basis is the operator’s legitimate interests in running a reliable and secure website (Article 6(1)(f)).

Messages you send. If you email us, we receive your address, any name you supply, your message, attachments and relevant email metadata. We use this information to answer your enquiry, address corrections or rights requests, and keep necessary correspondence. The basis for ordinary enquiries is legitimate interests in communicating with readers. Requests that must be handled under data-protection law are processed to meet the applicable legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)). Please do not send sensitive information unless necessary for your request.

Providing an email address and message is voluntary. Without sufficient contact information, we may be unable to reply or verify a rights request. Reading the site does not require an account.

3. Cookies, search and optional services

The website does not include advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts, a newsletter sign-up or a contact form. Catalogue searches and filters run in your browser; the site does not send your search terms to a search service. Fonts, scripts and editorial images are served with the website. Ordinary links to external sources take you to independently operated websites when you choose to follow them.

The site itself does not use cookies or browser storage to remember searches or track readers. Cloudflare may use security cookies or similar technology when needed to detect abuse or verify a request. These infrastructure measures can depend on the request and security conditions. If optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking is introduced, this notice will be updated and consent requested where required.

4. Service providers and email

Cloudflare provides the website’s hosting and content delivery through Workers Static Assets, as well as DNS and security infrastructure. It processes technical request information to deliver and protect the website. Messages sent to info@thingstodoyourthing.com pass through Cloudflare Email Routing and are forwarded to the operator’s private Gmail account. Google receives and stores those messages in the destination mailbox under its consumer service terms and privacy policy. Cloudflare provides routing-event and delivery-status information. The private destination address is not published on this website.

Providers may process information on the operator’s behalf or for their own purposes under the terms applicable to the service. Their role depends on the service and account arrangement. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Privacy Policy. These policies supplement this notice; they do not replace the operator’s responsibilities.

5. International processing

Cloudflare and Google operate global infrastructure. Website request information and email may therefore be processed outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. The services used here are not represented as providing storage or processing exclusively in the EEA.

Cloudflare describes safeguards for covered international transfers, including European Commission standard contractual clauses, in its Customer Data Processing Addendum. Google describes its use of adequacy decisions, applicable Data Privacy Framework certification and standard contractual clauses in its data-transfer frameworks. The mechanism applicable to a particular transfer depends on the provider, destination and governing service terms; listing these safeguards does not mean that every mechanism applies to every transfer.

These links provide the providers’ published information and terms. You can also contact info@thingstodoyourthing.com to request further information about relevant transfers and any applicable safeguards.

6. Retention

Correspondence is retained for as long as reasonably needed to answer the enquiry, complete related follow-up and keep a record of corrections or rights requests. Retention depends on whether the matter is still open, whether the messages are needed to document its resolution, and whether a legal obligation or potential or ongoing claim requires preservation. Messages that are no longer needed for these purposes are deleted. Provider-managed technical logs, deleted-item recovery and backups follow the applicable service’s retention processes; deletion from the working mailbox does not necessarily remove every provider backup immediately.

7. Your rights

Where applicable, you may request access to your information, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, or data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. If a future activity relies on consent, you may withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. These rights have conditions and exceptions under applicable law.

Email info@thingstodoyourthing.com to make a request. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. You may also complain to the competent data-protection authority, including the authority in your EU country of residence, place of work or the alleged infringement. Requests will be handled within the applicable statutory time limits.

8. AI tools and personal information

AI helps create the website and editorial materials, as explained in our Legal Notice & AI Disclosure. This does not mean visitors’ emails or personal information are automatically submitted to an AI service. The site code currently contains no visitor-facing AI chat or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Contact messages must not be reused for AI training or submitted to external AI tools without a separately established lawful basis, appropriate safeguards and any required additional information to the person concerned.

9. Changes and contact

This notice will be updated when the website’s actual data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Questions can be sent to info@thingstodoyourthing.com.
